IMSA Visual Storyteller, Shruti Shakthivel, shares her thoughts on creating the videos and media content for ISSF 2018 and what ISSF means to her. ~ “… to discover, create and inspire others, and to bring people together to collaborate for a better tomorrow.
My name is Shruti Shakthivel and I’m a sophomore at Illinois Math and Science Academy (IMSA). I am working with the publicity team to create promotional videos for the International Student Science Fair (ISSF 2018).
I got involved with publicity and videography at the start of my sophomore year, my 10th year of school, in IMSA Student Productions (ISP). My interest stemmed from my original interest in creating YouTube videos where I post funny comedy videos or those of my travels around the world.
I am originally from Algonquin Illinois and went to Huntley High School. I came to IMSA in hopes of a more immersive education and to experience new things which is exactly what I got. I became immersed not only in science in math but also in English and in history.
During my extracurriculars, I am part of various groups called “Allies” and “Promise” on campus that work to provide science and stem experiences to kids who don’t have access to those programs at their current schools. I’m grateful and excited to be a part of the publicity team and create content for the world to see.
I stand by their goals to find solutions to achieve our UN global goals and ISSF’s motto to discover, create, and inspire others, and to bring people together to collaborate for a better tomorrow.
