Postdoctoral Fellow, Northwestern University
Dr. Vidya Venkataramanan is currently a postdoctoral fellow at the Center for Water Research and Department of Anthropology at Northwestern University. She researches and teaches on the topics of water insecurity and flood management, and has previously worked in rural sanitation and public health. Vidya has an interdisciplinary background spanning the social sciences (BA in International Relations, Boston University), public health and infectious diseases (Master of Public Health, Boston University), and environmental science/engineering (PhD, UNC Chapel Hill). Her primary research interest is in improving the implementation of water, sanitation, and environmental sustainability programs through an increased understanding of the role of community engagement and participation. She has worked on these topics in Asia (India, Nepal, Cambodia, Laos), Africa (Uganda, Niger), the Caribbean (Haiti), and the United States.
