Vice President, Supply & Optimization BP Fuels, North America
Clive Christison is the vice president of Supply & Optimization for Fuels North America. Based in Chicago, he is responsible for BP’s commercial, supply and optimization activities in the Americas.
Clive has 20 years of international experience in oil, gas and power industries, holding a number of senior roles in Refining & Marketing, Supply & Trading, Exploration & Production and Logistics for Mobil Oil Corporation and BP Plc. He has extensive experience in operations, corporate strategy, finance and project management, with postings in France, the U.S., the U.K., and Singapore.
Prior to his current role, he was the chief executive of BP’s Integrated Supply & Trading business for the Americas and was responsible for BP’s oil trading and supply activity in the Americas, and for crude oil globally. He also led BP’s oil, gas, chemicals, carbon and financial trading business for the Eastern Hemisphere, covering the Middle East, Southern & East Africa, Australia, India, South East Asia and China. He was the country president for Singapore where BP has its regional headquarters for the Asia Pacific.
Clive was chief of staff and strategic director for BP’s Alternative Energy portfolio, consisting of some of the fastest growing energy businesses in the world. The portfolio included solar, wind power, biofuels, hydrogen energy and natural gas-fired power generation. Clive supported the creation of BP Alternative Energy with the aim of becoming a major low carbon power producer and wholesaler by 2015. In 2008, BP expanded Alternative Energy to incorporate a broader range of renewable and alternative energy activities and doubled its annual investment rate.
Clive is an active member on the board of directors for multiple councils, including BP America Inc., BP Products North America Inc., BP America’s Diversity and Inclusion Council, CFTC Global Markets Advisory Committee, Futures Industry Association, Commodity Markets Council and the University of Illinois Technology and Management Program. Clive currently serves as the BRG executive sponsor of the BP African American Network.
A graduate of Edinburgh University for chemical engineering and holding an MBA from Warwick Business School, Clive is an avid sportsman and active traveler.
